Berkshire Primary Care Ltd (BPC Ltd) is a GP Federation which consists of all fifteen practices within Bracknell and Ascot Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). GP Federations are a way for member practices to work collaboratively to improve the services they are able to offer to patients and to strengthen the role of primary care within the wider NHS. Ultimately the aim is to build a stronger primary care locally, whilst working closely with our primary and secondary care partners, and to make our general practice more sustainable and stronger financially.
An example of this is the Extended Hours GP service which is delivered by BPC Ltd. The Extended Hours service is available to patients from the 15 practices and is an extension of the day time service but runs in the evenings and on Saturdays to make it more convenient for patients who are unable to attend during the usual opening hours. Staff from the 15 practices work within the service which runs from Boundary House Surgery.
Another example is bulk-buying of services and products to achieve maximum discounts which therefore costs less to each practice and to the NHS as a whole. Berkshire Primary Care has a list of projects to work on; services that will benefit patients and member practices. In doing this a key objective is to reduce the time that it has previously taken locally to implement projects and commence the delivery of new services.
Whilst we are a relatively new organisation we are making exciting progress - utilising the wealth of knowledge and experience held in the Board to turn opportunities into reality! Our hope is that Berkshire Primary will be a strong provider organisation that has the confidence of patients, partners and our CCG.
